Alexey Velichko, Konnect, Russia discusses trends on the satellite internet market in Russia in an interview with Cnews
The relatively young satellite internet market is continuing its rapid development, and participants in the market are doing all they can to overcome the perception that it is premium services for the elite. Instead, satellite internet can be available to almost every inhabitant of the planet. In April 2021, the global satellite operator Eutelsat S.A. became one of the leading shareholders of OneWeb with a 24% stake. OneWeb will operate 648 satellites in low orbit with low latency and global coverage by the end of 2022. In an interview with CNews, Alexey Velichko, head of Konnect's sales department in Russia (the Russian subsidiary of Eutelsat SA, which has been providing broadband access services under the Konnect brand in Russia since 2020), spoke about the state of the Russian satellite internet market, what role Ka-band plays in its development, and why cooperation is better than competition.
